A day in the life- The ideal Visual Merchandising Design Engineer is motivated, highly detailed, results-oriented and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day. - Develop design concepts from rough sketch and scrap to final design that can be interpreted to window and promotion execution - Provide support to the design lead in the production of prototypes - Practice design discipline in a flexible, open and innovative approach and apply new principals to design work - Develop, evolve and execute promotional concepts/window designs and cosmetic promotions that support the marketing strategies of the company - Partner with multi-channel groups to create and drive design specific and creative inspiration concepts - Manage and track timeline with regards to final deliverables, goals, and to meet production schedules - Review operating practices and procedures, determine whether improvements can be made and work to implement changes as appropriate - Plan, facilitate and/or execute projects, including owning entire larger impact projects, as assigned - Assist in the development of the department budget as needed - Research and resolve issues using appropriate resources - Communicate, inform and coach project coordinator and production designer on design intent - Collaborate with project coordinator; production designer and production artist to develop fully realized designs that translate to all windows and interior presentations in the company and to ensure proper design interpretation You own this if you have- - 1+ year of computer aided retail design experience (fixture, signage, architectural, etc.) as a lead required - Proficiency in SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator required - Proficiency in MS Office suite - Previous visual merchandise experience with Nordstrom is preferred - Demonstrated understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom - Ability to demonstrate and teach all Nordstrom brand initiatives - Ability to build strong relationships with in-store teams, regional/corporate merchants and store/general managers - Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills - Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
